It's Almost Calorie Overload Time Again

Halloween is just around the corner, but, for some reason, the number of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood has declined drastically over the past few years.

I suspect the decline is due to concern for the safety of the children involved and the increase in other activities like supervised parties.

Unfortunately, the lack of trick-or-treaters hasn't been good for MY waistline. Despite the decline in trick-or-treaters at our door, we still seem to think we must keep bags and bags of "fun size" candy bars on hand, just in case we are suddenly flooded with 50 or 60 little witches and goblins wanting a treat.

And---what do you think happens to all those candy bars once we have distributed half a dozen or so to those few neighborhood kids that still love to ring the doorbell, and ask for a treat?

You guessed it. My husband and I are stuck holding the bag--or should I say bags, and believe me, we are getting very good at quickly disposing of the contents.
