No doubt about it, losing one's job can be pretty scary. Even if your spouse is still working, having to start seaching for a new job, expecially if your educational background and experience is a bit on the skimpy side is not something most people look forward to.
And, when both breadwinners in the family are laid off at the same time, things may look even bleaker. Read how our guest post writer for today faced just such a problem.

Losing a job is tough but when my wife and I both lost ours within 2 weeks of each other last year things got really scary. Neither of us went to college and we’d worked at the same place for a decade each so when they started downsizing it wasn’t good news.
We’ve been working really hard ever since to save money where we can and my wife’s gotten really good at it. We moved to a new house a little farther outside town and we’ve been clipping coupons like mad people for grocery store items. My wife looked into the HughesNet Recovery Program and we’ve both been taking odd jobs until we can find something more permanent so you could say we’re keeping our heads above water. I know it’s not ideal but it has really brought us closer together to have lost our jobs at the same time and we’ve gotten to spend a lot more quality time together which is never a bad thing if you ask me!
