Flying model airplanes is great fun, but those who fly them need to be good neighbors, too. If your plane does crash, (perish the thought), please clean up after yourself. A recent grass fire in Encino, near Los Angeles, took 49 firemen and a fire-fighting helicopter about 40 minutes to contain. The remains of a radio controlled model airplane were found at the scene, and it is thought that the crash may have started the fire.
I know how easy it is to lose a plane when it gets out of range, or for a plane to crash for some other reason, and I, personally, have practically run my legs off chasing one that is out of control. If you find yourself in the same situation, please don't leave until you have exhausted every possiblity of finding your errant plane. If it should cause a fire like the one in Encino or injure a person or someone's property own up to it and make things right so all model airplane enthusiasts aren't labeled as reckless and uncaring.
