Summer Sports on Television Limited But Interesting

My son-in-law loves the Mariners and manages to attend at least two of their games every year. In between, he settles for watching them on TV

Today's guest post is written by Cam Reynolds.

Once summer is in full swing, not very many of the popular sports are active. Baseball is the only major sport that is a constant through the summer. Over the last few years, the advent of specialized sports channels on satellite TV has ushered in a plethora of summer sports choices.
Versus is one of the cable tv channels in seattle. Versus has in depth coverage of every second of the Tour De France and keeps the viewers informed of the intricacies of cycling as a sport.
Another channel that picks up in popularity during the summer months in Speed TV. Sometimes criticized for their extensive coverage of NASCAR, Speed TV gets down and dirty in the summer months with more dirt racing coverage, including the Knoxville Nationals. The Knoxville Nationals is the Super Bowl of sprint car dirt racing which includes cars fielded by NASCAR stars, Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne.
Other summer sports that can be looked forward to are the ESPN Summer X Games. The Summer X Games were invented for extreme sports that do not have a signature event to call their own. The popularity of the X Games has spawned interest from the International Olympic Committee and some events have already been included in the most recent Summer Olympics in Beijing.
