One of the most interesting websites I have come across in a long time is giving away downloads of Piano Sheet Music . Hard to believe, isn't it? But it's true. I went to find out.
The free sheet music they offer comes in just about every genre you could ask for; classical music, Christian music, boogie, the blues, jazz, and soft rock. You name it and they probably have it.
From the time I was a small child, I dreamed of playing a musical instrument. My mother played the guitar by ear and my father could bring unbelievable sounds out of a harmonica, but, alas—all three of their offspring seemed to lack any musical talent at all. Not that my parents didn’t try with us—it’s just that nothing seemed to work so they finally gave up.
It wasn’t for lack of trying on my part, either. I remember paying a girl down the street 25 cents a week to give lessons on their beat-up old piano; I took guitar lessons from the mother of a friend; and I signed up for music classes at school. As an adult, I bought a keyboard and managed to learn a few chords on my own so I could play (behind closed doors) for my own pleasure. But now, as a senior citizen, I still wish I could play well enough to get together with others to play for fun the way my parents used to do.
Is it too late for me? I hope not. The website I mentioned earlier, Piano Sheet Music, has raised my hopes again. Not so much because of the free sheet music they are giving away, but because of all the other stuff I found there--including some free music lessons.
It was one of the most thorough websites I have ever come across. If you want to find some easy piano exercises for beginners, they have a link to that; if you want to learn about piano chords, there is a link for that; if a piano lesson correspondence course interests you, Piano Sheet Music offers one; if you need to “be shown” how to finger certain chords, this website has a video online to “show” you how to do it; and, if you are a Star Wars fan, you wouldn't want to miss their link to Star Wars piano music effects.
I watched their video on how to add some extra little touches to "Greensleeves," and managed to make it work, (although not quite as professionally), on my own keyboard at home.
If you aren’t really into learning any more about music yourself, but know someone who is, pass the link along to them so that they can take advantage of all the goodies being offered there. It isn’t just free sheet music, although that is a most attractive offer, but it is the wealth of other information they include that makes it worth a visit.
