Don't you just hate it when a product you absolutely love suddenly disappears from the stores?
That happened to me recently with a product called Sugar
Twin, an artificial sweetener that was
about as close to real sugar as any product I have found, and I have tried
plenty of them over the years.
Anyway, I don't use a lot of sugar so I was slowly working
my way through my generous, cereal box size container of SUGAR TWIN when I
noticed I was getting a little low so I added it to my shopping list.
I was a little surprised when I found that there was no Sugar Twin at my favorite grocery store the next day. Not the cereal box size; not the much smaller size I had often noticed but never purchased; and not even the container of one serving sized packets like you might find for use to sweeten your coffee or tea in a local restaurant. Hmm. "Well, no problem. I'll just pick it up somewhere else," I told myself.
That was much easier said than done. For the next several weeks I searched our
town and not one container of Sugar Twin of any size did I find. There wasn't even an empty spot on the shelf
where it used to be that might indicate they were temporarily out of the
product. Inquiries brought either a
blank look or the stock reply that the product was no longer available. Had it been that long since I had replenished
my supply?
Well, last week, while searching for something entirely
different at Amazon, I ran across a sale of Splenda, another sugar
substitute. I had tried it and didn't
like it nearly as well as Sugar Twin but thought maybe I should go ahead and
purchase a box before it, too, disappeared.
But wait a minute. I decided to type, SUGAR TWIN into the product search blank, and there it was. Sugar Twin. I could hardly believe my good fortune.
True, the prices were a bit higher than I usually paid at
the local grocery store, and there was a shipping fee to contend with after
that, but, considering that a box lasted me for 6 months or more, wasn't it
worth it? Yes. To me it was, and I quickly put my order in for not
just one, but two boxes of my favorite sweetener. (They actually sold cases with 12 boxes in some of the
listings, but at my age, 12 boxes would probably end up outlasting me, so I
settled for just two boxes.)
How about you.? Is
there something in your life that has disappeared, and no amount of searching
seems to unearth it locally? Then head
for Amazon like I did, and see it you can't find your own private stash hidden
there.
