Finding Just the Right Baby Announcement.

It’s been a while (a long, long while) since I sent out birth announcements, but I still remember the thrill of letting everyone know our family had a new member. In fact, I probably overdid it a bit and let people know that really weren’t all that interested in being informed, but let’s face it---a new baby is something worth getting excited about.

Birth announcements when my kids were born were not nearly as nice as the ones that are on the market today. I do remember that you were given a choice between the words, “It’s a Girl,” and “It’s a Boy,” and about whether the card was dominantly pink or blue, but that’s where your choices ended.

Today, baby announcements are much more varied. The biggest change, and the one that I like the most, is that you can easily include a digital picture, or pictures of your baby. Who wouldn’t love to open a baby announcement and see your adorable baby smiling up at them. (I know—they say that newborns don’t smile, but I don’t agree with them, and I’ll bet you don’t either.) Anyway, you can pick any picture you like and have it featured in your personalized birth announcement. It could even include Mom and Dad as well as their new little miracle.

One place I saw for ordering birth announcements even allows several photos per announcement, and will accept minimum orders as low as 10 copies. Their little girl stroller design almost made me wish I was in the position to send out announcements again, but, at my age, I guess I’d better leave that up to my grandchildren.

If you’re expecting a baby, it’s never too early to check out what is out there in the way of announcements, infant furniture, and other baby items. Take it from me, those last few months really fly by, and suddenly, there’s a baby in the house; a baby demanding every free moment of your time and more. Those first hectic days are much easier if you are prepared ahead of time.
