I'm Not Sure Working Online Is All It's Cracked Up To Be

Can't believe it is almost the middle of June, already. Maybe catching up on all my domain names and websites blanked out how fast the time was getting away from me.

About a year ago, I read Pot Pie Girl's (also known as Jennifer Ledbetter) book on marketing and decided to follow her advice about setting up 6-minute, or was it 6-hour websites on Word Press. You can guess how that went. Unfortunately, in my case, it was more like 6 months for each one. I think you might call me a "slow learner."

I did have a ball finding domain names for only a couple of dollars each---not paying any attention to the fact that the sale price was only good for the first year. This last month, I got the unpleasant task of having to decide which ones to keep and which ones I didn't think were worth the much, much higher price of renewal.

So far, I'm not much better off than when I started. Every time I turn around, Word Press notifies me that there are comments on one site or another that need modifying, and most of them fall into the junk mail category, but you can't just let 1400 comments sit there now, can you? The worst of it is that the process for removing them is limited to about 50 at a time. Ugh.

I do earn a dollar (sometimes even more) here and there when someone clicks on and buys one of my e-books on Barnes and Noble or Amazon, but other than that, I guess I would have to sum up my experiences of the last year as more about education than profit.

Today I had an e-mail informing me that a particular company--one I had heard of but don't recall ever writing for--had deposited the grand sum of $1.67 cents into my Paypal account. I gladly accept any amount anyone wants to send, but usually I know where it came from, so I did a little digging into some of my past activities and found out it came from the company that took over, EHow.com. I had put a couple of items on their site several years ago. You get a small fee each time someone reads one of your articles. Mystery solved.

Well, that's about it for now. Just wanted to let you know I'm not giving up until I earn enough online to justify whatever I've already invested in learning about it.

Back to figuring out how to make those 6-minute/6hour websites pay off before my domain names expire again.

If you have a spare minute or two, check out my latest e-book on Barnes and Noble, at http://bit.ly/kOWbpv It makes a great gift for newlyweds, especially during June, the traditional month for weddings.
